She has taught literature, writing and creative writing at Syracuse University and at Elmira College. But that was a long time ago. For the past 21 years, Nancy has taught in the Schenectady City School District. This past summer she participated in a visual poetry workshop in Finland and had her work exhibited at the City Library of Helsinki. Her poetry blog, A Formal Feeling, features her textual and visual poetry. She also publishes found sound at her audio blog, Click Buzz Chirp, and photographic images that are both pointy and blue at Pointy Blue.

Sam Truitt is the author of the forthcoming Vertical Elegies 6: Street Mete (Palm, 2010) and the previously published Vertical Elegies: Three Works (UDP, 2008), Vertical Elegies 5: The Section (Georgia, 2003) and Anamorphosis Eisenhower (Lost Roads, 1998), among other books. He lives with Kimberly Truitt and their daughters, Indiana and Evangeline, in the Mid-Hudson Valley. For more information, go to www.samtruitt.org

In that Gallery at R&F:

Paula Roland's exhibit, Poetics of Pattern, runs through January 23rd, 2010.

In Roland’s innovative dipped works on paper, the tactile and aromatic qualities of beeswax combine with the direct touch of graphite drawing to engage the senses and involve the viewer. Her installations are layered spaces formed by overlapping patterns on pierced paper. The semi-translucent wax monotypes that she creates these installations with are lit from the back, inviting the viewer into the work by creating a physical presence beyond that of the surface image.
